When Lion left the Ngurah Rai Bali Airport, he said, “Let's see if I will find myself here. Is not this the point of people coming to Bali?” Bali allowed Lion to find craziness amidst the craziness, to find himself questions about happiness, and to love life with an open gate of understanding. Lion began to search for himself through local friends, the spas staff, a carousel of late-night karaoke, unplanned trips to remote islands, a secret party in a remote villa, or soaking himself in the warmness of the tropical sea.
The trip not only ended up in Bali. This was Christmas time, and Lion was accompanied by Windy exploring Timor and Alor Island. He and Windy celebrated a humble Christmas with the local Timorese family. And of course, he will not forget Christmas carol by the beach with their kids. These trips taught him that pain is only a full plate of spicy gado-gado (peanut sauce raw salad) and the fear of the Covid-19 pandemic. Yet, life is short. It has to get celebrated without forgetting to leave a memorable message to those we love and care about. And there was Thiago getting thrown by the angry wave while singing Happy Birthday to his brother Sefa and his mother.
Finding ourselves sounds like a self-centered goal, but it will only happen when we open ourselves up to everything life has to offer: ourselves, challenges, opportunities, places, people, and more. Thiago's travels to the Indonesian Islands have taught him this valuable lesson. Through his experiences, he has made connections with both places and people that have helped. With all things happening in this fresh journey, Lion came to one temporary conclusion Love is a gate that we should leave open. Once it's shut, our life is limited forever. Wouldn't you agree?
