In this episode of Lion on the Road, we share our experience with Chinese regulations while on a mountain hiking trip outside of Liupanshui city. Little did we know that not informing our Mama about our expected return time would lead to her calling the police for our safety. We appreciate her concern, but we soon found ourselves in a situation where we had to explain ourselves to the authorities. The police explained to us that it is mandatory to register in every city and province, regardless of having a working permit and living in China. It was a strange regulation to us since they do not apply it in every place we had been before, so the question remains: what is the real law? We couldn't understand its necessity anyway. However, we soon realized that this was the law in China, and we had to comply with it.
