Ahidous is a cultural tradition of collective Amazigh dancing and singing and this has been practiced for generations by people residing in the Middle and High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, particularly in Imilchil and Midelt.
During the performance, they will stand shoulder to shoulder, forming a large circle or two facing lines. The leader of the dance, called Ammehreb in Tamazight, will stand in the center and lead the rhythm and dance. The dance symbolizes unity, and the performers have to wear a uniform, a white djellaba, and a turban, which symbolizes peace, while the women are free to wear any color with silver jewelry. The dance is considered an expression of victory after a conflict or war, and this aspect has remained unchanged over the years.
